Determine Your Leather Type

First, ensure that your leather product is in fact real leather.  Some protected leathers use a coating that will not allow for conditioner to absorb. With this type of leather, it will often be recommended that you use soap and warm water for cleaning. If you suspect that your leather product is not real leather, or is coated with a protective finish, check with the manufacturer to make sure that Bickmore products are the right choice for your item in question.

Once you have determined that your product is real leather, use the Water Drop Test to determine what type of leather your item is made of. Simply drop a small amount of water on your leather and read the results. Please be sure to do this in a hidden, inconspicuous area of the leather.
